The awards supported by the EU were presented by the Deputy Minister cine goya for Skills, Jeff Cuthbert, at a ceremony at Coleg Morgannwg, Nantgarw, one of three regional events for VQ Day in Wales yesterday (Wednesday).
Succeeded Tomi, who runs Jones' Butchers in Llangollen, beat Leo Hacker, former Cardiff and Vale College student, who now works for the hotel Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, London, and Helen Wynne, cine goya who has won numerous of awards and Child Care Services is owned Blythswood, Wrexham, in the final.
"Winning this award is one of the greatest achievements in my life so far," said the talented butcher, who will represent Wales next month in the competition for young butchers the National Federation of Meat and Food Premier Young Butcher in Birmingham. Tomi was nominated for the award by his training provider Cambrian Training Company, in Welshpool. After completing a Foundation Apprenticeship in Retail Skills Butchery, he is now working towards an Apprenticeship in Butchery Skills while running store and employ two apprentices.
