-THE INDIANS adwards The Indians have a musical culture among the largest in the world. The music is of great importance in this population, who uses it in many ceremonies treating it as a fundamental element. The Vedas contain many songs. The system has a very ancient Indian musical (second century BC.). It consists of several steps which are divided into eight as in the Western system. The complexity resided in the organization of the scale. The intervals were divided into Srutis (total: 22 Srutis). The ways were called ragas (= color, mood). adwards The instruments used were: chordophones (such as the sarangi, the vina, sitar), the idiophones (including the tabla = pair of drums) and wind instruments (flutes, oboes). adwards
